From a young age, Mauricio knew that numbers, science, and mathematics were part of his future. At the University of Costa Rica, he solidified his vocation and followed the call of civil engineering.
Like many other professionals in this field, he began his career as a budget analyst, calculating costs and estimates. After so many years, countless projects, and numerous works along the way, he finds the most rewarding aspect to be seeing ICON’s employees take pride in their workplace. “They are the pillars of the company, the true backbone, and it is a great joy to count on their dedication and effort.”
While learning the fundamentals of such a demanding profession at home, he earned his engineering degree from the University of Costa Rica. He later completed the Advanced Management Program at Chicago Booth University.
In different companies in the industry, and under his leadership, outstanding projects of all kinds came to life. “Something I learned from the start of my career is that work should be appreciated and enjoyed; one must be happy with what they do every day. We instill that philosophy in our engineers, field staff, and all the workers at ICON.”
